I’m currently working on sharpening up my knowledge base in computer networking since I know that a solid foundation for developing cyber security skills will require a fundamental understanding of networks. I already have somewhat of a good understanding here since I used to sell IT services but I still need a refresher. I recently signed up to TryHackMe and I really like the structured & gamified paths for learning. I have been using it daily and I really see the value that TryHackMe provides.
It seems like certification is a must when entering the cybersecurity field. There’s a lot of certifications but it seems like the CompTia Security Plus certification is a must have. This lead me to Professor Messer videos on Youtube so I will be diving into his videos to prepare me for my certification. It is mind blowing how vast the Cybersecurity field is. I’m still researching the different types of areas and careers that are available. Honestly, it is overwhelming so I will take my time deciding on what to specialize in. As of now, I feel comfortable on this path.
