Updating My Learning Resources

Posted on March 1, 2026 by Frank

This week, I decided to change from using Professor Messer to gain a better understanding of networking & cybersecurity. I won’t be ditching Messer’s resources completely, because there’s definitely value there but I just found that his teaching style is a bit too dry for my liking. I already subscribe to Udemy so I decided to check out the learning resources from Andrew Ramdayal and I really like his teaching style as it makes it easier for me to visualize the key concepts in both networking and cybersecurity.

This week, on my TryHackMe path, I was introduced to Wireshark, Tcpdump, and Nmap. I only really touched on the basics of these tools but I can totally see why they’re so important. The Tcpdump basics room on TryHackMe really humbled me and I had to run to YouTube to really understand the tool better. For this upcoming week, I’m still going to focus on completing TryHackMe’s Cybersecurity 101 path while continuing to level up my knowledge base on both networking and cybersecurity with Andrew Ramdayal.
